Why Train Outdoors

“The best views are at the top of the hill.”

The outdoor medium

The options are endless when it comes to staying healthy. But in today’s world of powerful technology, many people are now feeling the urge to simplify and get back to nature. Exercising outdoors doesn’t just allow us to experience all of nature’s benefits, it also meets  our need to stay fit and active. Combining these two elements seems a logical choice really…

THE DIVERSITY OF OUTDOOR TRAINING

The best training offers variety & stimulation, and exercising outdoors hits the mark!

Terrain, climate, different locations, they all contribute to physical and mental benefits that are hard to find anywhere else.

Carrying dumbbells up a hill or completing an overload activity in the soft sand; the terrain we choose to exercise on challenges our bodies as we adapt to the differences!

Training in the heat of summer or the cold of winter; the weather, climate, and elements can be so changeable! But this is not a disadvantage, it’s a gift because mother nature is providing variety, causing our body to work harder as it adapts to the conditions.

How would it feel to complete a HIIT session at the beach or Toning session at a Recreation Park? Exercising outdoors enables our gymnasium to be wherever we choose!

These few examples show how diverse and beneficial outdoor training can be and, at OPT, we take full advantage of it all!

Mark runs some seriously great classes with enough variety for everyone and anyone. I love mixing up our workouts with beach runs and all sorts of little surprises! One thing is the workouts are never dull, always loads of fun and I leave every time feeling fantastic, more motivated and proud. The Events activities are an added bonus... individual and/or team events i.e. Tongariro Crossing, Xterra etc... always with an awesome group of people. Thanks so much Mark for all your hard work!

RISING WITH THE SUN

There are many mental health benefits to exercise, and working out first thing helps you experience those benefits right away. Exercise leads to the secretion of neurotransmitters that promote mental clarity and an improved attention span. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment, as well as rejuvenated and recharged.

OPT is way more than just an exercise group and Mark is way more than just a trainer! His years of experience and genuine caring for health and fitness shine through in all aspects of his work and life. Mark’s ability to adapt quickly to different situations is second to none. I often marvel at how he does this with seamless organisation, efficiency and good humour. OPT classes are fun and varied whilst being extremely beneficial to body, mind and soul. I cannot stress enough how life changing this group has been to me. Keep on doing what you do Mark, please!!

Outdoor training rocks! OPT is full of members of all shapes and fitness levels. In my 12 months I have found every single member, including trainer Mark, to be humble and down to earth! Lots of laughing out loud every session, with a desire to do the best we can for our health and fitness. Each member gently and genuinely encourages each other go the distance! Highly recommended!!
